2021 Route 66 Volleyball Roundup
The formats for the Route 66 tournament will be different this year from previous years. Teams will play a 4 team pool on Saturday and have a challenge match and single elimination playoff on Sunday. This way we can limit the number of people in the facilities and still accommodate a good number of teams in the event.
We will run teams in waves on both days. Morning waves run from 8 am till about 1 pm. The second wave will be from 2 pm till about 5 pm. In the second wave, teams will play 3 matches back-to-back.
Divisions and wave:
12’s Division: Afternoon wave, both days at the Fieldhouse in Springfield
13’s Division: Morning wave, both days at the Fieldhouse in Springfield
14’s Division: Morning wave, both days at 417 Athletics in Mount Vernon
15’s Division: Morning wave, both days at 417 Athletics in Mount Vernon
16’s Division: Afternoon wave, both days at 417 Athletics in Mount Vernon
17’s Division: Morning wave, both days at the Clubhouse in Springfield
18’s Division: Afternoon wave, both days at the Clubhouse in Springfield
All schedules are tentative and can be changed at any time.
About the Route 66 Roundup
Started in 2015 and now in it’s seventh year, the 2021 Route 66 Volleyball Roundup event in Springfield, MO is developing into the premier event in the area with more and more teams from surrounding regions attending the event.
When: January 30 & 31, 2021
Format: Teams play a pool of 4 teams on Saturday. Sunday teams will play a challenge round, followed by single elimination playoffs.
Match format: Play is best 2 out of 3 sets format. First 2 sets to 25 points, starting at 4-4. Third set, if needed, is to 15 points, starting at 0-0.
Ties: All ties are broken on paper. No tie-breaking sets are played. Teams that are tied after pool play will be seeded as follows: 2-way ties: head to head match result will determine the higher seed. Three or Four way ties will be broken in the following order: Overall set percentage, overall point percentage, head-to-head set percentage, head-to-head point percentage. It still tied, a coin flip will determine the highest seed. For pools where automatic 3 sets are played, the final finishes will be based on MATCH records in the first place. If teams are tied in MATCH record, the procedures above apply.
Officiating: R1’s are provided for all matches. A rostered coach (head or assistant) has to be the R2 or the Scorer for the match. Teams provide an R2 and a scorer. Official score is kept by the R1.
Mask Requirements: All participants and spectators are required to wear masks at all times. During competition, players are not required to wear masks, but coaches and players not on the court have to wear masks.
Spectators: All teams are allowed to bring a total of 20 people into the facilities. This included players and coaches. For example: a team with 9 players and 2 coaches is allowed to bring in 9 spectators. Teams have to provide a list of spectators at checkin.
Hotels: You can find hotel information on the HOA website. These are hotels that work with HOA and have special rates for us. You do not need to stay in any of these hotels if you prefer other opportunities.
