Gold Heart Challenge Cup Information

Divisions: Girls
- 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12
- 32 teams maximum per division
This is the 17th year for this Gold tournament, featuring teams from more than 10 states & Canada.
Format: Only 4 teams per court, consecutive pool play,
up to three (3) rounds, followed by up to 2 playoff matche1
,
Maximum number of matches is 11, (maximum number
of sets - 24)
Minimum number of matches is 8 (minimum number of sets - 18) this is extremely
rare though. Usually teams play more.
Officials: We
cover all matches with a paid first official.You will still need
to cover the rest of the officiating duties.
Entry
Fee: $375 per team (Must accompany Entry Form)
Entry
Deadline: Friday, January 22, 2010, as long as space is available.
Teams will be accepted into the tournament in groups of 4. Teams
dropping out after the deadline do not receive a refund of the
entry fee unless
there is a team on the waitlist at the moment of dropping out that
is willing to take the open space.

Your
team should plan on being ready to play or officiate at 8:00 am Saturday
morning. Out of town teams (>75 miles from Kansas City) wanting
a later start time on Saturday should indicate "Late Start
Time Requested" on their Entry Form. Late start would be
the 2nd time slot on Saturday.
Playing
Sites: The Playing Sites for the Heart are in the Kansas
City area, Leavenworth and Topeka (approximately 45 minutes from
Kansas City).
Because
entries may determine actual playing locations we are currently unable
to determine actual playing sites for each division. We cannot be more specific until entry deadline. We will
do everything possible to keep travel to a minimum.
Awards: There
will be individual awards to champions and second place and both
third place teams in each Gold division (1 thru 4th place),
Silver (5 thru 8th place) and Bronze
(9 - 12) will receive 1st and 2nd place awards. Flights 4 and lower
may receive 1st place awards, depending on the number of teams in
the
division.
Playing
Schedule: Will be available on this website no later than Monday,
March 7, 2011.
Rules & Regulations: USAV
playing rules for the 2009-2011 season will be in effect. with
the following exceptions
Region
Rules:
- Teams must start the tournament with 6 players - in case of injury during play they may
compete with 5 players.
- No ties will
be decided with a playoff game. All ties will be decided by record,
using the HOA tie-breaking procedures.
- Membership & Officials
Certification will be spot checked.
- Use the Entry
form below for all Ages.
- Teams not
in uniform (jerseys &/or shorts) will start each game down
3 points.
Officiating: All
competing teams will be assigned to officiate in the tournament.
Teams MUST provide certified referees and scorekeepers or
will charged an additional fee. In addition, teams MUST provide
the 2nd referee, scoreboard operator and 2 linespersons. Teams not having a
Certified Referee and/or Scorekeeper MUST provide
the rest of the officiating team for the assigned match, as well as pay $50
for each official.
Failure
to fulfill officiating assignments will result in the loss of 1
point per minute in their
next match
Sanction: The
tournament is sanctioned by the Heart of America Region - USA Volleyball.
All teams and players must be registered with the USAV. Team and
player registration numbers MUST appear
on the Entry Form or the entry will be rejected. Teams using illegal players
will forfeit all matches and be disqualified from the tournament and
the case turned over to the appropriate Regional Commissioner for
further action.
